

Roberts has a unique style of writing instead of beginning with the story outline, she envisages a key incident, character or setting. Roberts did not write anything much as a child, except for essays in school. As a kid, she claims to have told lies and made up stories, some of which her mother still believes. After several rejections from the famous romance novel publisher Harlequin, a new publishing company Silhouette Books agreed to publish her first book, which was a big hit as well as a reinforcement for Roberts to write more. She started with the manuscript of her first book, Irish Thoroughbred. She believes this crucial time was a turning point in her life, and is responsible for giving a kick-start to her career as a writer. This was a phase when Roberts begin putting her stories on paper. Her passion for writing started after a blizzard in February 1979, when she spent most of the time at home with her two kids, Jason and Dan. Belonging to a family of avid readers, books are an important part of her life.
